CU-EWB in Ghana!
This summer, just days after finals, our travel team headed to Ghana to advance two of our long-term projects: the Mpakadan Electrification Project and the Obodan Preschool Project. With over a week of travel, fun, and new experiences, both teams gave our members the chance to see their hard work come to life!
In Mpakadan, we wrapped up the last of the in-person work: helping with home wiring, collaborating with the Electricity Company of Ghana, and making sure everything was set for the community to access reliable power. The project is now almost complete (!!!) and will soon move into a remote phase. And CU-EWB is so proud of playing a part in lighting up the community (literally).
In Obodan, the rest of our team visited the new preschool site, ran soil tests, and spent time with the kids and families who will one day use the new school. Between soccer games, summer rains, and even getting invited to a local chief’s enstoolment ceremony, we were able to get a real glimpse of the warmth and culture of Ghana - and understand just how much impact our work can have.
CU-EWB is excited to carry the momentum from this summer into everything we do this year. We can’t wait to share new opportunities, events, and updates with you soon - so please stay tuned, and thank you for being part of the CU-EWB community.
Upcoming Events: Fall Bootcamp!
Beyond the travel, CU-EWB stayed busy this summer planning for the year ahead. We have been preparing so many more ways for members to get involved both on campus and abroad. One highlight we’re especially excited about: our annual Fall Bootcamp! Taking place on a weekend soon after Club Fair, CU-EWB Fall Bootcamp is where new and prospective members can meet the CU-EWB community, enjoy fun activities, and even try their hand at engineering gingerbread houses with friends. It’s one of our favorite traditions, and the perfect way to kick off a new year together. For more information, please keep an eye out for the next weekly newsletter. We can’t wait to see you all and bring more fun in the 25-26 school year!
